AUGUSTA, ME - MARCH 17 A flock of mallards Thursday March 17, 2022 is engulfed in a flight of gulls on the Kennebec River in Augusta. Most of the ice that covered the river up to Augusta as recently as last week has melted ahead of the spring freshet.
